Popeye Cartoonist

E.C. Segar, creator of the beloved Popeye Cartoon was born in Chester, Illinois. He was born before the 20th Century, but he still enjoyed playing games and drawing cartoons.

E.C. Segar in modern American

We’re sure that if he were around today, he’d be playing a new Popeye branded Wii Game burnt with his favorite software to back it up! He ran several comics before Popeye, like Charlie Chaplin’s Comedy Capers and had a blast doing so.

He was awarded several honers, they actually even created an award named after him. Knowing how he loved to cut up, I’m sure he would enjoy himself as much today as he did then. Did E.C. Segar eat spinach? Who knows? I think he did, why, he sure pushed it down Popeye’s throat often enough! Aye-gugh-gugh-gugh

E.C. Segar Dies, Bud Takes Over

After he died, Bud Sagendorf became the cartoon’s new pen pusher. He ran the strip just as if EC were there himself, it was still a hit.

His movies still are held dear by many children throughout America. Everyone knows what he eats, everyone knows his corn cob pipe and his anchor tattoos on his oddly shaped forearms, right? Growing up without those memories is what I would consider unpatriotic! His beady eyes and love for his girl and fierce fight against the bad guy always made Popeye The Sailor Man loved the world over!
