Popping in a DVD in your DVD player to work out to gets mundane quickly. Even after day three, you’re already sick of the cheesy background music and the trainer’s voice is driving you bonkers.
In steps the My Fitness Coach video game for the Wii console. This exercise game, unlike a DVD that will burn itself into your brain like a bad nightmare, will rotate through almost 500 different workouts, which will keep you guessing as to the next move your trainer will expect. Exercise your way to fun with the new Wii Fit Plus game! It’s a wonderful way to exercise while still having fun—instead of staring at a muted soap opera on the TV in the sweaty local gym!
The Wii Fit Plus takes the flaws of the original Wii Fit and reenergizes the program with extra features and more mini-games. When doing your strength activities and yoga moves, you’ll have more poses and strength exercises to keep your workout fresh and lively. There is also the addition of numerous balance games, in addition to the ones included on the original Wii Fit.

The biggest change is the option to enter “The Locker Room” and create a personalized workout. My main complaint with the original Wii Fit exercise kit with the balance board was that you had to do each yoga pose or strength exercise once, then had to return to the main menu to choose another exercise and continue. With the new Wii Fit Plus, you can customize your own fitness routine—no more stopping in the middle of a complex yoga pose to back out into the main menu and pick another. You can personalize your yoga poses, set them in the order you want, set the repetitions, and even combine and mix and match yoga and strength exercises for the ultimate workout. This way, you are utilizing your time better and maximizing the results.
There are other key game features that are included in the updated Wii Fit Plus exercise game. You can expand your profile and set your goals differently than you did in the original Wii Fit game. You can select what part of the body you want to target, whether it be arms, abs or legs, and can have a seamless daily workout routine created with the click of a few buttons.
Unlike the original Wii Fit exercise game, you can now even track the estimated calories that you have burned while “playing” the video game. This way, if you’re counting calories and tracking what you burn, you’ll be able to have a good idea of how heavy a workout you are doing. This can help you in personalizing your workout routine and goal to fit the exercise you want to get out of your game.
All in all, the Wii Fit Plus is a definite improvement on the original Wii Fit game set, and builds off what worked—and what didn’t work—in the first game release.
